East Mills splits with South Page in Double Header
Malvern Iowa, Friday June 13, 2008. East Mills settled for a split in a double header played against the South Page Rebels Friday night. East Mills won the first game 5-3 behind a complete game pitched by Levi Helbling. South Page won the second game 3-2 as the Wolverines commit 5 throwing errors.
“Levi Helbling got his first win of the season on the mound,” said Coach Green. “Levi has started 3 games for us this year. He has faced some of the tougher teams in the conference, which has led to two losses coming into this game. Levi has really pitched well enough to have 3 wins but for various reasons we just haven’t come out on top until this one tonight. Levi put his stamp on this game by striking out 15 of the 28 batters he faced. In the second game of the night we just committed to many throwing errors and didn’t score enough runs to overcome them. I keep hoping that we are going to break lose with the bats but we may have to move some folks around in the line-up and start playing small ball. We are not swinging the bats as well as we need to.”
These are the combined batting and defensive totals for both games.
